When I started as a professional photographer over 18 years ago, I worked for a specialist interior design and lifestyle publication. At the time, my title was chief photographer, but I was the only photographer! I used to joke about my grand title, but working independently with a small team of writers and designers allowed me to develop my skills and build a diverse portfolio of editorial, portraits, and lifestyle images.

After several years working in the trenches of magazine publishing, I took a leap of faith, moved to rural North Wales, became a full-time freelance photographer, and have been working independently ever since.

My work varies from day to day. I shoot for several private and corporate clients. I’ve been fortunate to work for companies such as Discovery, Random House Publishing, Visit Wales, Curve Media Barker and Stonehouse, and Drew Pritchard Antiques. If you are a Quest TV’s Salvage Hunters fan, you may have even seen me on the show! I’ve contributed to Concept for Living Magazine, Spaces, 25 Beautiful Homes, Style at Home, The Financial Times, Metro, Vintage Explore, Permaculture Monthly & The Green Parent Magazine.

Photography is my way of life, so even when I’m not working, you can usually find me with a camera in my hand. I first learned to shoot on film and honed my skills in a darkroom- yes, that dates me! I enjoy dreaming up ideas and continue to work on several self-initiated fine art and documentary projects.

I love teaching and get a real buzz from working with aspiring photographers. I’m a visiting lecturer at Chester University and have worked as a creative practitioner for Arts Council Wales. In collaboration with my partner David Paddy, we run Tilt & Shift, a small independent photographic gallery and studio in beautiful North Wales. Curated exhibitions have included shows by established and emerging photographic artists such as David Hurn, Aled Rhys Hughes, Antonia Dewhurst, Zed Nelson, Matt Botwood and Toril Brancher, Robert Pitwell & David Noble.

If you want to commission work, please get in touch with me. I would love to discuss ideas and talk photography with you.
